Santorum is Strengthening Obama’s Chances for Re-Election

Rick Santorum Thumb

Read the conservative response (which sort of agrees with me!) in this open letter to Rick Santorum.

The only candidate who truly scares me is looking more and more likely to lose the Florida primary and therefore the GOP candidacy thanks in part to Rick Santorum. Despite Mitt Romney’s strong poll numbers against Obama, it’s easy to see that he will be steamrolled by the Obama train once attentions turn to the national race.

Santorum was the only wildcard that could have changed the face of the election had he backed down before the Florida primary. While Gingrich would still be a longshot to take on Obama, he’s much-better qualified than Romney to take on the President head-to-head in debates and his trademark big ideas that often confuse and “inspire” Americans desperate for proposed changes (even those without substance such as putting a colony on the moon in 9 years) could have swayed some moderate voters.

As Charlie Rose points out in a report about Romney’s rise Florida, “It is said in Chicago where they are running the Obama campaign that they’re so giddy that they want to run naked in Millennium Park.”

This has been an exceptionally-weak pool for the GOP. We laughed when Trump looked like a potential candidate. We laughed harder when Bachmann, then Perry, then Cain took leads in the polls. Gingrich is laughable as well, but Romney is the biggest joke of them all because his position as the pure representation of “the 1%” makes his candidacy irrelevant once he wins Florida, sweeps the February primaries, and walks right into the Obama campaign trap. This isn’t a call for complacency, but it does allow us a temporary sigh of relief.

With Santorum sticking with it, Gingrich appears to be fading out of contention. The Democratic party should thank him. I know I do.

    Isn’t there another candidate?

    • He who shall not be named is truly striking fear into the white house. How can some one expect to end these Wars! They worked so hard on them! How can we continue to enslave the world if we loose command of our oppressive military Dictators! How can he who shall not be names talk about ending out wars for empire.

    • Joshua Perry says:

Yeah, you seem to have forgotten the only candidate that Obama doesn’t have a chance against…Dr. Paul will win in a landslide, and thanks to all the other candidates attacking each other, it’s very likely he’ll wrap up the nomination on June5th with California. ;^)

  2. Money buys votes, which is why I think Romney is a far more formidable opponent than Gingrich. Gingrich struggles to get funding, Romney has endless cash at his disposal.

  3. I am a Canadian. And if you think I have no right to express my opinions in the United States then you should investigate some of the awful things that are happening to us right now. We did better during the recession that just about any country but it seems Pres. Obama wants to drag us down to his level. His encouragement and financial incentives to American companies who have been in Canada for a long time seems to be working for him. Just last week Caterpillar announced it was closing its plant in London, Ontario. This plant has built diesel electric train engines for over 50 years. The big Cat’s only comment was that the Canadian workers turned down their only offer. They don’t mention that they said the workers would have to accept a 55% drop in wages. No benefits. No pension plan. The whole thing was a sick joke since everyone knew they made that offer knowing that it would be turned down.
Ford motors closed a plant that had been running at least that long in the same part of the province. The result: 1500 well payed workers were out of a job.
So, yes we DO have an interest in your political matters. And the sad thing??? Every time I think of the Republicans forming another government, I think of George Bush Jr. And then I have to go and lie down.
One short question. Does your constitution allow for the separation of church and state?
    Good luck Americans.

  4. Sorry but I want to make one more point. Pres. Obama, for strictly political reasons is shoving the huge Canadian oil supply to our west coast so it can be sold to Europe and Asia. Our Prime Minister is on a trade mission right now. Where is he?? CHINA!!
We have the second largest oil reserves IN THE WORLD. Would you rather buy your humongous oil needs from a guaranteed supplier who just happens to be your closest and best trading partner? Or would you prefer to haul it in from Arab nations who are anything but friendly and can hold you hostage any time their fanatical governments decide to punish those terrible Yankee dogs?
And that’s probably the worst thing that the U.S. has ever done to Canada.
